Finally

dragonchaser

Hi folks,

after some people decided to hack my server (shame on me I should have secured phpmyadmin), we are back online.

For that occasion I decided to improve the site a little…

  • commenting now requires to enter a captcha (sorry spam-bots…, unfortunately most of the old comments were lost whilst migrating the server, I am really sorry about that)
  • new maps have been rendered, currently I am uploading 4.5GB of new data, including our nether map. Due to slow connection (6Mbit/s / 684kbit/s really isn’t fast these days, damn you adsl).
The new maps should be available by Monday evening or Tuesday morning
  • The look and feel of the Dungeonkeepers section has been improved a little…

Furthermore we have started planing on the future of our server, we have planned to:

  • open the server to the public as soon as Notch created full mod support and a rights management system
  • divide our current minecraft world, that means we are creating three sub-worlds consisting of an unmodifiable entry level, a free build section and our current world in adventure mode… (and maybe if there is a nice smp-quest mod we will supply you with some nice quests to ge through)

So that’s all for now folks, stay tuned….

Greetings

dragonchaser

UPDATE:
2011-10-02 – I’ve uploaded the nethermap! It’s available here
2011-10-05 – I’ve uploaded the worldmap! It’s available here

Server Migration

dragonchaser

Hi folks,

the ride is currently a little bit bumpy, we are migrating the server to a new permanent host…
“You are kidding me” you ask right? No we can almost assure 24/7 availability and (hopefully) daily automated map renders!

AWESOME aint it?

Greetings dragonchaser

Project: Mortar II

As dragonchaser recently stated our latest project had to do with lots of dynamite. Our magical journey of pyromanic discovery began when we agreed that although cannons are awesome it kinda sucked that you couldn’t aim for anything. Now I am pretty sure that others had the same idea before but for me that was new land. My first cannon was just a slightly prettied up rip-off from this guy’s youtube tutorial on how to build basic cannons (thank you).

Now the basic idea was that instead of a barrel we build a ring for the charges. This way you can fire into basically any direction (accidentally wrecking havoc on your own stuff way better than before) if you just put the charges into the appropriate corners. In theory the wider you build that ring the more precise your missiles of doom will be but up until now I just built a flawed prototype I wanted to share with you guys.

It looks kind of like a star because that way the watersources don’t dry up when the charges are placed (also it looks cool). That design is flawed though, because you can only put charges into each corner (as you can’t diagonally activate TNT via redstone-wire), allowing for just 8 possible directions. That could be fixed by building a ring for the charges to drop down from once activated, however that would require a certain height (so it won’t get in the line of fire) and a very annoying “staircase” for the redstone-wire.

If I regain my patience today I will build another design with at least two rings for the charges to drop from (as a small ring like this doesn’t propel the shot very well – the TNT explodes in the air which looks cool but isn’t really the point of a big-ass doomsday-device like this).

Dragonchaser just got home (we are room-mates) and said he would do a video of this thing shooting later on today. Hopefully the next version will be finished by then so we can do a before-after kind of thing.

Oh, and this is what our darling looks like when its ready to reign fire on innocent cows and chicken:

An Experiment – better than a county fair

dragonchaser

The later the night, they say, the weirder it gets.

Since I couldn’t find any rest this night, I’ve decided to
find out why my rail accelleration sytem didn’t work yesterday.

For that purpose I’ve built a little rollercoaster, strangely that thing worked though I’ve been using the same design… Odd… But hey, at least the pig and the duck had fun on that little machine.
